"We must not only give what we have; we must also give what we are."
Meet our Students
I intend to use the Wright Graduate Institute to push and further myself—to positively transform who I am and to have a positive impact in society as a whole. I am focusing on establishing a meaningful purpose as my primary motivation to strive rather than relying on the system of scarcity, particularly that of shame and inferiority, that has historically been my motivation to strive.
I feel that making this fundamental shift in my beliefs and motivation will further my growth and push me to use my talents to their greatest potential. I firmly believe this shift will propel me toward my dream of transforming the systems that cripple inner-cities in America and limit the dreams of impoverished communities about the world. My studies will allow me to give back to my community by helping me address the issues I dealt with growing up and to create opportunities that do not currently exist for our inner city youth. This graduate level education is giving me the tools, knowledge, and experience to connect, empathize, and sympathize with diverse populations to create sustainable, dynamic, respectful, and understanding environments that support the culture, beliefs, and desires of their communities.
Through the Wright Graduate Institute I have learned so much about myself, my relationship with my family, my roots, and where I came from. It is very clear to me that the combination of experiential assignments—living what I'm learning—and studying is a great combination. With this unique balance of the practical and the academic, concepts are starting to click and make sense in a way that is very exciting to me! Now I understand the basic ideas behind the experiential learning and the challenges of transforming your life.
My learning at the Wright Graduate Institute is helped me clearly understand my strengths and weaknesses. As I move toward becoming a life coach, I am more confident and feel more equipped to help other people. My learning is helping me to see and identify issues, dynamics, processes, motivations better than I ever imagined. And, I don't need to wait for my final degree to experience the benefits, because I am already applying what I am learning!
Thanks to the Wright Graduate Institute, I am relearning how to be a student and rediscovering my love of learning. I have become a researcher, not only in the classroom—as I compare theories on Family, Relationship, and Intimacy from Roman times to the present—but also in my family and business life. As a small business owner, I am learning how to better understand my clients' and employees' needs respond more effectively. As a husband, I am beginning to understand my wife in a whole new way—using what I've learned in class to explore her background and family systems.
The Wright Graduate Institute is teaching me how to transform my leadership to create closer and more productive relationships—in my business, in my home, and among my peers. The advanced degree I am earning is increasing my credibility with my clients, but more importantly, it is giving me a greater respect for myself. For the first time, I am in control of my learning. I am in control of transforming my life.
The Wright Graduate Institute has changed me for the better. It has made me a more conscious, alive and open person—and scholar. The experience of learning experientially, as well as theoretically, has allowed me to live my studies and study my living. I feel more alive and creative. I have seemingly boundless energy to pursue my new curiosity. It is liberating to learn in such a personally relevant manner and share my experience with others.
